What does made-to-measure protective film cost? How the price is made up
In short
The price depends on the area of your shape times the price per square metre of the chosen film. Depending on shape and cutting option, surcharges per piece and shipping are added. The configurator shows the exact price live as soon as your dimensions are valid.
Area, film, shape, cutting, shipping: what the price consists of, how to calculate it yourself and where you can save without losing protection.

The base price: area times price per square metre
Each of the four films has a price per square metre. The calculation uses the area of your shape, not the enclosing rectangle: a round table therefore costs less than a square one with the same diameter as edge length. Small cut pieces are charged at least for a small minimum area.
The area follows from your dimensions. You calculate a rectangle yourself: width times length, in metres. A table of 90 by 180 centimetres has 0.9 times 1.8, so 1.62 square metres. This area times the film's price per square metre is the base price.
Which price per square metre currently applies is shown on the product pages and in the configurator. It comes live from the shop and can change; that is why we name no figures here.
An example with shape: a circle 100 centimetres across has about 0.79 square metres, a square with 100-centimetre edges a full one. So anyone who orders round pays only for the area actually covered. We do not charge you for offcuts from the roll.
Shape and cutting: the surcharges
For “Exact to size” there is a surcharge per piece. It does not depend on size: a small and a large cut piece pay the same amount. On large surfaces it therefore hardly matters; with many small parts it adds up.
For the freeform there is a surcharge per piece for cutting to your file. Rectangle, circle, oval, rounded corners and trapezoid cost only the area, with no shape surcharge. The configurator shows the exact amounts in the price line.
With “Cut yourself” you pay no cutting surcharge but cut edges, radii and cut-outs yourself. How much allowance you need there is explained in the article on the two cutting options.
Shipping, tax and quantity
The prices in the configurator include VAT. Shipping costs are added; above a certain order value they are waived, and the shipping page names the value. We currently deliver only within Germany.
If you order several pieces, the configurator calculates quantity times unit price. With identical fronts you set the quantity; each piece arrives separately. For series and parts from a drawing there is the enquiry for business customers.
In the basket you see every item with dimensions, film and cutting option. That lets you check before checkout whether quantity and price match what you measured, and still change or remove individual cut pieces.
How to check the calculation and save sensibly
Measure the surface, choose film and cutting option in the configurator and compare. The price is shown immediately, and you can switch the film without re-entering anything.
You can save in the right place: not on the quality of adhesion or preparation, but on the choice of film per surface, on the cutting option for simple rectangles and on bundling several parts in one order. Looking at the sample set beforehand costs little and can avoid a wrong order.
And one more point: the price you see in the configurator is the price you pay, plus shipping. No hidden items are added in the basket, and checkout checks the price once more against the shop's values.
Frequently asked questions
Do you calculate with the rectangle or with the shape?
With the area of your shape. A round table is therefore cheaper than a rectangle with the same edge length. A small minimum area applies to very small cut pieces.
Is VAT included in the price?
Yes, the prices in the configurator include VAT. Shipping costs are added and are waived above an order value that the shipping page names.
Is “Exact to size” charged per square metre?
No, the surcharge applies per piece, regardless of size. With many small parts it is worth comparing with “Cut yourself”.
Where do I see the current price per square metre?
On the film product pages and in the configurator. The values come live from the shop, which is why they are not in articles.
