Ordering many cuts at once: the parts list

In short

In the cart, the parts list reads in a list of your dimensions, one line per piece: label, width times length in centimetres and quantity. Every line is checked and priced. It only reads rectangles; you order other shapes in the configurator.

Kitchen fronts, cabinet parts, many identical panels: how to write the dimensions down once, get them into the cart and what the parts list checks.

Updated:

Seven transparent film pieces of different sizes, each with a numbered label, laid side by side on a dark worktop, a film roll behind them.

When the parts list is worth it

Anyone who needs twelve kitchen fronts or many table tops usually already has the dimensions: in a spreadsheet, on the measuring sheet, in an email. Without the parts list that would mean filling the configurator for each piece. With it the list goes into the cart as it is.

For single pieces the configurator remains the better way: you see the shape, the price and the trial template. The parts list is meant for series of similar rectangles.

How to write the list

One line per piece. The label comes first and is free, followed by two dimensions and the quantity. Possible are, for example, “Cabinet door left 60 x 40 2 pieces”, “Worktop; 240; 65” or “1200 x 800 mm”.

Between the dimensions you can use x, ×, *, slash, tab, semicolon and comma. The quantity may come last (“2 pieces”, “2x”) or first (“2x cabinet door …”). Decimal comma and thousands point are allowed, as in “1.200 mm”.

The dimensions count in centimetres unless the line says “mm”. If a piece only fits the roll when turned, the parts list reads it turned: a rectangle is the same piece whichever way round it lies.

Reading in: text, CSV and checking

You type the list into the text field, paste it from an email or spreadsheet or upload a CSV or text file. You choose film and finish at the time of reading in, for the whole list.

Every line goes through the same check as in the configurator: dimensions within the limits, valid quantity, price. Whatever fails comes back with a line number and reason instead of silently going missing. So you see straight away which line you need to correct.

There is an upper limit for the positions in the cart. The parts list does not read lines beyond it and reports how many are left; you order those in a second round.

Getting the list back out

In the cart you can download the rectangular cuts as a table (CSV). The parts list reads this file in again. This way an order can be repeated later with other dimensions or another film.

Shapes other than rectangles are not in the table because the parts list cannot represent them. They remain in the cart as their own positions.

For series and parts to a drawing there is also the enquiry for business customers.

For business customers

Example: a kitchen in three lines

Suppose you have two fronts on the left, a worktop in the middle and a single door on the right. You write: “Front left 60 x 72 2”, “Worktop 240 x 65” and “Door right 40 x 72”. That is three lines and four pieces, because the first line counts twice.

The parts list reads the lines, checks each against the limits of the configurator and puts them into the cart as positions. There you see every position with dimensions, film and cutting option and can change or remove individual ones before you pay.

Pitfalls when writing

Two notations can be confused. The parts list reads “2 x 60 x 40” as two pieces of 60 by 40 as soon as “2” would not be an orderable width. “3 x 60 x 40 mm” always counts as three pieces. If you prefer to put the quantity at the end, nothing remains ambiguous.

The limits are the same as in the configurator: the shorter edge may not be wider than the roll, and the shortest edge has a minimum size. Which values currently apply is shown in the measuring guide.

After reading in: check before you pay

In the cart, compare the positions with your measurements: are dimensions, quantities and the chosen film right? The price you see there is the price you pay, plus shipping. The checkout checks it once more against the values of the shop.

If you notice a mistake, you change the position or remove it and read the line in again. That costs nothing as long as you have not ordered yet.

Frequently asked questions

Can the parts list read round cuts?

No, only rectangles. You order circles, ovals and freeforms in the configurator.

Do I have to write the dimensions in centimetres?

Centimetres are the default. If “mm” is in the line, the parts list calculates in millimetres.

What happens with a typing error?

The line is reported with its number and reason. You correct it, the other lines remain untouched.

Can I mix different films in one list?

When reading in, film and finish apply to the whole list. For another film you read in a second list.
